Common Farm

Jo trains from Common Farm near Highworth in Wiltshire: 400 acres with everything a horse needs, from its first lessons to race day.

The facilities

Common Farm is owned by Mrs Patricia Brown, the yard’s patron, and we’re lucky to be based here. Jo also looks after Mrs Brown’s retired horses, mares and foals.

35 boxes

Bright, airy stables for every horse in the string.

6-furlong gallop

A straight Active Track gallop of about 1.2 km, on a gentle incline.

2.5-furlong sand track

A deep sand track of about 500 m, with an uphill final furlong.

Indoor school

For flatwork and schooling whatever the weather.

Outdoor school

A big arena with a jumping lane and showjumps.

Schooling fences

Hurdles, fences and cross-country jumps to school over.

400 acres

Plenty of hacking when it’s not too wet.

All-weather turnout

A paddock the horses can use through the winter.

Visiting the yard

Owners are always welcome, and anyone thinking about ownership is welcome to come and look round. Visits are by appointment, so we can make sure Jo is free to show you round.
