Benvoy: from never having jumped a hurdle to Grade 2 winner
He arrived knowing nothing about jumping. After patient schooling at Common Farm, Benny has won twice over hurdles, including a Grade 2.
Jo bought Benvoy for a consortium of owners, with a mix of ownership types so that people could join at a level that suited them. Among them are the #TheseGirlsCan ladies, who kindly opened up their syndicate to some of the yard’s other owners.
By Fastnet Rock out of a Montjeu mare, and a half-brother to some lovely horses, Benny made himself a yard favourite almost immediately. He has the best temperament and is always willing to learn.
Starting from scratch
When he arrived he was clueless about jumping. It took intensive schooling at home before it clicked, but once it did, he really took to it.
He has now won twice over hurdles, one of them a Grade 2, and Jo has high hopes for him this season. He handles most ground as long as it isn’t extreme, and his best trip is 2m to 2m4f.
